We often face a situation in which we get into a dilemma of whether doing a particular action is useful or whether not doing it is useful.
There are many ideologies in the world which makes each person unique and one’s perspective is different from one another. If one says that our Earth revolves around the Sun while another says that only such thoughts revolve around our mind but not in reality, latter sounds more logical though. Opinions may vary and even proof may be also one of the many possible solutions of a single problem. So it is difficult to believe what is true or what is not and what is real or what is not. But now we live in a world where we think it is difficult to distinguish even between what is right and what is wrong! This tells how far we have come and how far we have stepped away from humanity. Law and order have completely failed in guiding the humanity in a particular direction and thus it has failed in taking the world on a good and moral path. Is there a way by following which we can all feel satisfied with our actions and bring back goodness and morality in people?
The major failure of humanity is that we perform actions for the sake of results. If we predict that the result will be good, then we perform that action, if we predict that the result will be bad then we don’t perform that action. It may seem right for a moment, but just imagine who knows what our future holds and whatever we assume our results are just mere predictions not the real ones. Motive of an action is more important than the ultimate result. First thing that should be kept in our mind while performing an action is the motive of the action, not the result of the action as result is just our aim not the vision itself. Let’s take a recent example, in our India, Olympic medal winners have been gifted BMW by Sachin Tendulkar for their extraordinary performances. But if they had performed just for sake of that, then their performance would have been affected as their actions may have been distracted from the motive to perform well towards results to win at any cost. As I have said, opinions may vary.
So when you fix motive in your mind, you get there and when you fix result in your mind, you reach no where. Money is not the motive, it is just the fruit of the result. * For example when we get a job, what do most people ask! Is it What is your job about? or is it How much is your salary? * Haven’t you experienced this? Think upon it, how backwards we are travelling nowadays as humanity. People don’t care about what you do, they care about what you get for doing that. This was just one of many examples. We need to set out our motive to do good for others in a good way and improving humanity in us. Motive should be decided on whether doing an action will improve one’s capabilities without hurting others or not and whether it will benefit others or not. Because there is a special feeling of self-satisfaction when we do good to others.

We live in a world where unless we show the fruits of the result, we don’t perform a particular action. Will you work for the cause of humanity if the result is nothing but just self-satisfaction? I know most of us won’t. Because we are not brought up that way. We work for results but not motive. When the reason of doing an action is good, then the result will turn out to be good. But when your reason for doing an action is wrong at the first place, do you think even the good result will do good to you? No way. From the day when the people in the world will learn to perform an action with a good motive rather than for a unknown good result, then we will be back on the track on the humanity. For example don’t aim to be a successful or a failure, because when you aim for success automatically failure becomes negative to you. But when your motive is improvement rather than success or failure, then you will never fail. And isn’t improvement better than success?
Sometimes ‘good’ motive may also lead to bad results. So what is the problem here? What is ‘good’ here? Is good a good thing only when it does good to the person doing it? No. It’s not. A good thing for one person may not be good to others. This is a very complex issue and should be taken on a global level. For that ‘good’ should be considered as good only when it helps others to become better as a person and makes them feel satisfied too with the motive. So motive should be good so that it brings goodness for everyone on a large scale and concentration should be on motive rather than the result. If we give up our desires and work towards upbringing the social, moral, religious and human values, then we may know the importance of good motive. We are in a situation where all these values are at record low. Isn’t it more important to work for improvement (better say re-birth) of humanity (motive) rather than thinking that it is impossible to change our entire world with such actions (assumed result)!!
If everyone thinks oneself as the center of the universe and make his motive of his actions as upbringing of the whole society for a good cause rather than worrying about the result, then we may see the world which we all want to be in. The insecurity of future makes us work for result rather than motive. But our confidence in present makes us work for motive rather than the result. Think about good things and make them as the motive to bring good in the world, don’t think about good things which you need personally as it will become a problem for others on a global scale. Because if the intention is good, nature tries to bring it in reality and if intention of an action is not good, even then nature being helpless brings that into reality. So be careful while doing an action. If doing good to others is everyone’s motive, then the purpose of humanity will be served. Life is simple but complexities begin when the motive to live life becomes wrong.

Thanks for reading. I know it was a long read, but while writing this, my reason for writing this was more important than the word count it may end up with. Think about your motive rather than the result while performing an action. Have a great week ahead. 🙂
