Is the Universe acting or reacting?

This question have been pondered by many since the beginning of time and even though there are many explanations, we are yet to prove it scientifically. But do we need to prove everything scientifically? If we observe the situation we live in carefully and assess it, we can decide whether our universe is acting or reacting.

Let’s see two different situations and observe the difference between them.
You are walking barefoot on a road and suddenly you step on a thorn, unknowingly. You feel angry for the pain you are going through, but whom do you blame? None, because the source of pain is a non-living thing. You think this is karma. You think this is a reaction.
Now, you are walking on the same road and a cyclist hits you from the back, unknowingly. You feel angry for the pain you are going through, but whom do you blame now? The cyclist, because the source of pain is a living being. You don’t think that this is karma! You think this is an action by the cyclist. Why?

So now tell the difference, why we think one situation is an action and another one is a reaction! Why cannot the latter situation be a reaction too, because of our past actions! Why our mindset is like, if the source of pain is a nonliving thing, then only the situation is a reaction and if source of pain is a living being, we think the situation is an action from that source. Why cannot nature choose a living being as a reaction for our actions which we did in the past!? Think upon it.

The major problem is not whether we take it is as a reaction or not, the problem is that instead of repenting to our past sins we try to avoid the reaction and create a new action in that place. The reaction for this ‘action for a reaction’ will be doubled in future. You may disagree with this, but just look around. We are living in the technologically most advanced era, still so many problems globally. Wars, diseases, increased natural disasters, anxiety, selfishness, anger, poverty, economic collapse situation, stress, depression etc.. This is the reaction for our past deeds on a global level. But what we do we try is create more action thus intensifying the reaction in the future. When in trouble, rather than blaming one another, if we accept and situation and stand together for peace and development with selfless intentions, the reaction will be served and thus will liberate us from our suffering.

We have to give up the false belief that it is an action from the nature, whenver we go through pain from a living being. It is not an action, it is a reaction of our past deeds. Thus we stop making new negative actions and thus our past actions’ account gets fulfilled. Then we start experiencing the good reactions from nature because of our good decisions taken while experiencing the negative reaction from the nature.

Thanks for reading. The example of two different situations given at the beginning is inspired from the book ‘The fault is of the sufferer’ written by Dada Bhagwan. It contains enormous wisdom and all his other books gives us a new perspective on looking at life. Have a great week ahead
